Front page

I didn't find a term used for the front page, home page, portal page into the wiki. Whatever the term is, this is the most difficult page for sure. I looked at many wikis to see how to write a short introduction of myself that has the right information and the right tone. I also wanted to have a picture of myself, since some people remember faces better than names. This also proved to be a challenge. I had to crop the photo and change the size quite a few times. The photo is not the best quality and I will replace it as soon as I have the opportunity to have a professional one taken.

Professional wikis are important already and will become more so--many times my clients ask me where my wiki is located. Now I can tell them, http://mhofer.tie.wikispaces.net/Marilyn%27s+Home

Posting Links

This has been the easiest so far. The only difficulty is deciding which links to include and a clear phrase to tell what is important about the link.

Progress--uploading presentations

Uploading presentations on a wiki is timeconsuming, but probably worth it to the participants. I spent about three hours last night finding powerpoints and documents for trainings I had conducted in February. By posting the material on the wiki, participants can go back to the orginial information and easily use it in their own environment. It did make me more aware of the fine points of copywrite law and the intention of copywrite.

Creating a Wiki

I had a time creating this blog about my wiki. I had already created a blog for an earlier course and tried to delete it--in the help menu, I found out that deleting a blog is not an option.
Then I tried to just edit, WyBears, the one I had since I was no longer using it, but did not succeed with that either.
So I started a new one.
